Witnessing without Fear of Rejection & Failure

Bill Bright

Fear of rejection & failure are some of the main reasons believers do not witness for Jesus Christ. We fear offending people and being rejected by people. We fear doing an adequate job of representing Jesus Christ and being branded a fanatic.

We listen to the whispers of the devil you are going to offend this person so do not say anything. This person will think I am a fanatic. Better mind your own business. You do not have the right to force your views on some one. This person will say no and you will be embarrassed.

Fear of failure and rejection are some of the biggest cripplers of witnessing. None of us likes to be turned down. We tend to take it personally, regarding a rejection of our witness as a rejection of our person. It is hurtful to be turned down.

One of the most liberating facts about witnessing is that God does not ask  any thing of us which Jesus  has already gone through. Jesus Christ to whom the crowds walked miles to hear saw his witness rejected by many.

Unlike us, however Jesus did not grieve because his ego had been hurt. He grieved because people had rejected the gift of eternal life. Just because his message was rejected did not make him a failure in his witness.

  • Jesus was despised and rejected of men: a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. We hid our faces from him. Isaiah53:3

When the rich young ruler walked away refusing to give Jesus first place in his life did that make Jesus a failure in his witnessing? Did Jesus fail because Judas Iscariot did not receive him as messiah? Did Jesus fail when one of the thieves on the cross  rejected him?

Gods command to you to witness is a success regardless of their response. His command is not to convert every one. Jesus did not and neither can we.

  • Success in witnessing is sharing Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results with God

We fail in witnessing if we fail to witness. The key is to leave the results with God. God does not hold you responsible for peoples rejection, responses, and results of your witness. Your witness will be accepted or rejected but you have been successful in witnessing in Gods eyes because of your obedience to God to witness.

  • God does not hold you responsible for peoples rejection, responses, and results of your witness.

No’s do not constitute failure. Peoples negative response does not make you a failure. If we do not see immediate results, we can be confident that we have planted a seed for God to water and help bring a harvest.

  • Failure in Witnessing is failing to witness.

Never be ashamed of witnessing for Jesus Christ regardless of people s responses. Be willing to suffer rejection for Jesus Christ. Count it a privilege and honor to testify for him
